Hi Everyone,

the registrations for the 2015 Spring Leadership Weekend are now open! This year's event will be held in San Diego from March 27 - 29, 2015. the ASHRAE Saskatoon Chapter will be providing funding for the flights, accomodations and registration fees for the event for one lucky individual. There will be a form sent out for those who are interested to attend. The chapter's YEA committee will then decide which applicant will be sent based upon the answers provided in the form. For more information about this event, see the link below.

P.S. as the lucky recipient of this opportunity for the previous year, let me mention that it is definitely worth all the effort!

Hi everyone,

I am the new Young Engineers in ASHRAE (YEA) chair and am glad to wish all the Saskatoon ASHRAE members back to this new year, in particular our YEA members. For our YEA members , I plan to have 2 events this year. The first one will be a combined Student/YEA event after fall midterms and the 2nd one will likely happen in February or March and is at this time undetermined. Our first event will likely be a bowling night as was done last year by my predecessor Christine which was very successful. Stay tuned for the event date and details soon!

Hello All,

Thank you to everyone who attended our inaugural YEA/Student bowling night! We had equal numbers of students and YEA members and I had great feedback from both.  Hopefully this will get more younger members and students involved with ASHRAE.  I will keep you all posted as I start planning our next YEA activities.

Hello All,

Hope you had a fantastic summer!  Now that we are all done our holidays, I would like to let you know about some of the YEA activities I have planned for this year.  First off, what is YEA?  YEA is Young Engineers in ASHRAE, although you do not have to be an engineer to qualify as a YEA member.  If you are an ASHRAE member 35 years old or younger (but not a student), then you belong in this group.  Last year, I stepped into the position of YEA chair/coordinator a little late in the year and was not really able to plan much, but this year I am going to make up for it.  The first event I have planned is a bowling night at the end of September.  I will be sending out an email to all of you some time in the next week or so with the details once I have them fully nailed down.  I am also working on setting up a mentorship program for some of our younger members.  I am looking for both mentors and mentees.  Mentors should have at least 10 years of industry experience and be members of ASHRAE.  Please contact me if you want to be involved and I will make sure that you get matched up based on what part of the HVAC industry you are in.  Also, since this is the time of year when most of you are dealing with recent university and tech school graduates, please encourage the younger people in your offices to get involved in ASHRAE.  I also strongly encourage everyone to attend as many meetings as possible this year as we have some exciting new topics that may interest you.

As you know I am the recently appointed Young Engineers In ASHRAE chairperson.  It is my job to recruit younger people who are new to the industry and get them more involved in the local and society level.  I strongly encourage members who work with or know young people who are just starting out in the industry to attend our local chapter meetings.  It is a great networking opportunity and a good place to get advice and draw on the experiences of some of the people who have been around a bit longer.  Also, this year we have decided to send Ian Slinger from Axiom and Christine Rogers from Cypress Sales to the YEA Leadership Weekend in Vancouver in April.  If anyone has any fun suggestions for YEA events that they would like to see in the near future, please email me.
