Hello everyone,

ASHRAE Saskatoon has just turned 50 years old and the countdown to our chapter hosting the 2016 CRC (Chapters Regional Conference) is on!  Our region's CRC will be May 12 to 14, 2016, in Saskatoon.  This is not the first time the Saskatoon chapter has hosted the CRC.  In fact, the Saskatoon chapter hosted the last Canadian CRC on May 23 to 26, 1979.  This was the first time we hosted the CRC and it took place in the same hotel that our 2016 CRC is taking place: the Sheraton Cavalier hotel.  The 1979 CRC was right around the time that the joint Canadian / American Region XI (eleven) was formed.  The Saskatoon chapter joined Region XI and left the all-Canadian Region II (two) as the ASHRAE regions were reorganized.

In other ASHRAE Saskatoon history news, further chapter historical documents are being found (or written in some cases) and uploaded to the history section of ASHRAE Saskatoon's website.  The 1987 to 1992 ASHRAE Saskatoon history summary has just been uploaded.

If you have questions on history or have some good ASHRAE Saskatoon stories from the past, then please contact me, your ASHRAE Saskatoon history chair.  I am still trying to track down the details of which Research Promotion chair offered to shave his head if the Research Promotion goal was met (or was it that someone else suggested that he shave his head)?  Research is ongoing.
