Welcome back everyone!  It's time to get back to our monthly general meetings.  The first meeting of the year on September 9th will feature Wayne Cole from Johnson Controls (Winnipeg) speaking about "Examining the impact that facility conditions have on student outcomes".

Wayne Cole is a Learning Environment Specialist and Senior Business Development Executive working at Johnson Controls Canada.  While he has been actively involved in the energy efficiency field for over 30 years, he has devoted the last 12 years of his career to studying the connection between the physical learning environment in K-12 facilities and the related operational and academic outcomes.  His involvement in related research includes co-authoring a 2012 White Paper entitled “Mission Integrated School Renewal”, contributing to the development of a research paper published in the International Journal of Educational Administration (2009), entitled “Measuring school facility conditions; an illustration of the importance of purpose,”  and authored half a dozen articles published in various magazines distributed within the K-12 sector.  Wayne’s engagement in applied research on the quality of the physical learning environment includes a detailed assessment of over 1,000 school facilities, and 600 school classrooms in Canada.  During this period he has been instrumental in doing financial modeling and investment analysis for close to $100 million in public sector facility renewal investments.

The meeting is at the Parktown Hotel, starting at the usual time with cocktails at 5:30pm.  Hope to see you there!
