October Meeting

posted Oct 4, 2016, 7:54 AM by ASHRAE Saskatoon Vice President

Hello All,

Our October meeting is coming up on Tuesday October 11 (the day after Thanksgiving) in the South Dining Rom at the Park Town Hotel.  Unfortunately, the tour I had planned fell through, but fortunately, we have a great speaker lined up.  Marty Wacker, who is the Principal Engineer for Cameco Corporate Technical Services will be speaking on Ground Freezing Systems at Cigar Lake and McArthur River mines.

Marty graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the U of S in 1984.

After seven years in product development and manufacturing roles, Marty joined the mining industry in 1991. He spent the next 22 years developing, testing and launching the Cigar Lake mining method, specifically ground freezing and water jet mining.

At Cigar Lake, Marty also managed the design and construction of surface infrastructure and held management roles as Maintenance Superintendent and Technical Superintendent.

For the last four years, Marty has been Principal Engineer in Cameco’s corporate technical services department, specializing in ground freezing and mining studies, providing support for Cigar Lake, other operations and future projects.

As usual, cocktails will be at 5:30, dinner at 6:00 and meeting at 7:00 with the presentation to follow.  Please RSVP to me by Friday.
