This month's topic relates to mining ventilation in a way you might not expect.

Papa Bravo Vehicle Underground

Papa Bravo Innovations is a new manufacturer of electric vehicles, designing and building them right here in Saskatoon. Underground workers in potash and uranium mines typically get around in modified diesel SUVs which produce exhaust and create a need to ventilate the mine. Switching to electric vehicles means no exhaust (no tailpipe). Having no emissions to remove allows for production equipment to run more or for ventilation expenses to be reduced. Many vehicles have already been built by Papa Bravo and are in service in Saskatchewan potash mines.

Papa Bravo founder and president, Patric Byrns, will tour us through their manufacturing shop, discuss the design and manufacturing of the vehicles and talk about the relevance of electric vehicles to optimizing mining ventilation.

On Janurary 14th meet us as early as 5:30pm at Sports on Tap2606 Lorne Ave, we'll enjoy a steak dinner at 6pm and then make the short drive over to Papa Bravo, 2510 Jasper Avenue, at 7pm.
