Our next meeting's topic will be Saskatchewan Building Energy Efficiency Standards and will be Tuesday, October 8 starting at 5:30.

The Saskatchewan government conducted public consultations on energy efficiency standards this spring after several other provinces throughout Canada expressed intent to adopt the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings 2011 (NECB 2011) as part of their building standards. It will be interesting to hear what has developed since these consultations.

The speaker for the evening, William (Bill) Hawkins, is the Executive Director of the Building Standards and Licensing Branch in the Public Safety Division of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Government Relations.  Bill also serves the role of Chief Building Official, Director of Gas and Electrical Licensing and the Ministry’s interface with the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan.  He is Saskatchewan’s delegate to the Provincial/Territorial Policy Advisory Committee on Codes and the National Public Safety Advisory Committee and is a member of the Advisory Council to Underwriters Laboratories of Canada.

Bill joined the Government of Saskatchewan in 2005, after 20 plus years working in a number of different roles in municipal government with the Cities of Moose Jaw and Yorkton.  Bill makes his home in Regina, with his wife Sharon and their three children.
