September's topic will be Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). VFDs are known for their energy saving abilities and operating flexibility, but are you aware of their caveats?

Jason Baerg and Gordon Nagus of Cypress Sales (the local Danfoss Representative) have prepared a presentation that will begin by introducing the technology to those who may not be familiar, but promises to delve into the details of the devices and answer technical questions like, "May a VFD output a frequency greater than 60Hz safely?" or "Can a VFD be safely coupled with a motor of a lower power rating?"

The plan is to discuss the Dos and Don'ts of VFDs in real world applications. Come prepared with your questions. This member requested topic is sure to be a conversation starter.

The meeting will be held at the Willows in the Eagle-view Room on September 10. Arrive as early as 5:30, supper is at 6.

Update: The presentation has been uploaded. Please download here.
