Hi Everyone!

Only one month into this year’s ASHRAE program and it has already been an exciting year!  We had great attendance at the first meeting of the year.  Jason Baerg and Gordon Nagus had a great presentation on the use of VFDs, which sparked a lot of valuable questions and discussion.

Last week, we also had our first YEA (Young Engineers in ASHRAE) event.  Over 20 YEA members and students from both the University of Saskatchewan and SIAST spent a fun filled evening bowling.  Everyone had a great time, and it was great to get to know one another.  Unfortunately, I discovered that my bowling skills aren’t as good as I remembered.  With more YEA events being planned, it is exciting to see some new faces get involved in ASHRAE.  Thanks to Christine for organizing these events!

This month Michael Nemeth has arranged to have Bill Hawkins come to present on Saskatchewan Building Energy Efficiency Standards.  I encourage everyone to attend, as this certainly will be an interesting presentation on where Saskatchewan is headed regarding building standards.

Last but not least, be sure to register for the Essential Leadership and Business Development Skills workshop, scheduled for November 12th and 13th.  Space is limited, so get your forms into Ryan as quickly as possible to secure your spot.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!
