ASHRAE's Objective

American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is an international organization of some 50,000 persons. Its sole objective is to advance through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world.

Regular Meeting Minutes for ASHRAE Saskatoon Chapter 102
  1. Call to Order
    1. Jeff Frie called to order the regular meeting of the Saskatoon ASHRAE Chapter at 6:40 pm on January 9, 2012 at the Parktown Hotel.
  2. Introductions / Attendance
  3. Reading of minutes from last meeting
    1. Mike Nemeth read the November 8, 2011 meeting minutes. 
    2. Motion to accept the meeting minutes as read. (Chris Watt / Jack Scott).
    3. Passed unanimously.
  4. Reports
    1. Vice-President / Programs – Chris Watt
      1. January 9 (Monday Meeting) – ASHRAE President Ron Jarnagin
      2. February 13 – Open (Monday meeting so its not on Valentine's days) Likely VFDs
      3. March 13 - Peter Simmonds DL - High Performance Buildings and Occupant Comfort
      4. April 10 – Open
      5. June – ASHRAE Golf Tournament 
    2. Treasurer – Chris Watt for Blake Erb
      1. Balances reported.
    3. History – Jack Scott
      1. Feb 25 Jon Ross Curling Tournament, Edmonton
      2. Ryan MacGillivray / Kirk Nagus motions to have chapter cover costs of registration and reasonable expenses.
        1. Vote passed unanimously.
      3. Golf tournament is Jun 15, Willows, shotgun start
    4. Research Promotion – Jonathan Bushman
      1. $1590 raised so far
      2. $9500 goal
    5. Membership Promotion – Ryan MacGillivray
      1. 5 New Members since July 1

      2. 101 members, 135 Students, potential 10 Associate members to upgrade, 8 Past-Due (down from 10: 3 renewed, 1 expired).
      3. Rosters are ready for pick-up.
    6. Student Activites – Greg Scrivener
      1. old HVAC textbooks may be donated to Greg Scrivener
      2. K-12 involvement is encouraged
      3. in November we did a tour at the Park Town Hotel
      4. Carey Simonson thanked us
    7. Chapter Technology Transfer – Mike Nemeth for Blake Erb
      1. Fundamentals of Water Systems Design
        1. March 12 & 13 at Venmar CES training centre
